This post is a simple explanation of things to consider so that you get the most from purchase of company clothing and stop throwing money away every order.

Here’s how to buy custom shirts for your company or brand and done correctly, branded clothing is an INVESTMENT not an EXPENSE.

Step 1: Identify the purpose for your Company

This may seem obvious, but all too often we get the phone calls that start with “how much does it cost for x?” This tells me that the client knows they need shirts, but they don’t know why.

Are you selling shirts to make extra income for your business? Giving away shirts so that you can market your business? Giving out company Merch to recognize or uniform your team?

Common reasons are to Sell, for Staff to Wear, to Give to Customers. Each of these will require a different product in order to maximize results.

Step 2: Identify a Budget for your brand

Going back to step 1, if the first question is “how much does it cost for x?” you’re in for a surprise. When identifying a reasonable budget for your order you need to keep in mind that custom apparel is just that…Custom. It’s not at all like buying a shirt off of a shelf at Target, pricing is not predetermined. I like to equate the process to buying a car or a house. You need to know how much you want to spend and have a wish list associated with your order. If you come prepared with a list of Needs, Wants, and Nice-to-Haves, along with a budget range, we can start to craft your order accordingly. Each order is custom built for you to meet your needs and get you results.

Step 3: Identify the Desired Result

With a budget and purpose in place now we can talk about where we are going. If you are selling shirts, how much do you want to sell them for and how much do you want to make per sale? If you are giving them to employees, do you need them to last a long time or would you rather buy shirts once a month because they wear out?

This is the most overlooked question in the apparel industry. Most companies don’t care about what you want, they just want your money. For me it’s all about the result. The reason we have a loyal following is because we always start with the end in mind. If we can’t get you the results you need then we won’t work with you to begin with and I will happily refer someone who can help you. We view every customer as a partner, if you succeed, we succeed with you.

The next time you place an order for custom apparel for your company or brand, start with these steps and you’ll be shocked by the results.
